To anyone I haven’t met…

Hello! I’m Tilly.

Hello, everyone..

Open Para.

Tilly quickly and quietly slipped away from the cafeteria where all the mutants ate. She quietly walked to the entrance of The Keepers’ office. Tilly punched in the code to the door, praying it was it right. It slid open, and Tilly had a slight feeling of triumph. She began to rifle through the files, trying to find information about the rumored Cult. What do they want from us?, she wondered. We did nothing wrong. It was no one’s fault, just an experiment gone horribly, horribly wrong.

When she reached to the C section of the file cabinet, she finally found what she was looking for. She took a quick peek, and realized it was vital information; what The Cult might do to them if they didn’t get out in time. She practically ran out of the office, making sure to shut the door. She looked behind her while she ran to make sure none of the keepers were following her, and bumped into someone and fell. Shit, she thought. I’m dead.

Tilly hated it. Tilly hated watching the world fall apart day by day. She hated that she couldn’t do anything about it. She hated what the world had become. Tilly let out a frustrated sigh, irritated with everything that had been happening lately. Normally she wouldn’t care, but these were people’s lives at stake. Her friend’s lives. There weren’t any good news for the Justies so far; she’d even heard that some Justies had been captured by The Cult. It scared her, the possibility of being taken, of being alone in some evil place. Tilly shuddered off the thoughts of where The Cult  kept all the Justies they’d captured. Tilly, extremely frustrated and tired, tied her hair up and decided to take a walk around and get some fresh air and heal some plants.

Tilly quickly walked out of the headquarters, and walked aimlessly around until she could find the nearest tree. The tree itself was nearly dead; sickly pale with thin branches and all its leaves scattered around the trunk of the tree. It made her sad to look at it; nothing survived in this world, not even the trees. She gently touched tree and watched it heal, its trunk and branches growing in size and thickening a considerable amount, fresh green leaves growing among the branches. Tilly began to climb the tree and sit on a sturdy branch of the tree. She took out a packet of smokes and lit one while she put it between her lips, something she only did when extremely angry. She blew out a puff of smoke, waiting for a car to stop, a star to fall, someone to change her life.

“It’s a fucking tree. If you’re so handy-dandy with that power, couldn’t you just make millions of them?” Nico asked, putting the jar away. “And I do know what it’s like to watch something die, everyone around here does. Don’t make yourself seem so god damn tortured.” She continued, nearly hissing at Tilly. “It’s a filthy world we live in,” she paused, “and frankly, if you don’t know that by now, you must be fucking blind.”

Nico looked at the girl, feeling absolutely no sympathy for her. “You can’t just keep acting like everything’s going to be alright. Look at where we live. Look at what we are. It’s all their fault. The humans, don’t you get it? It’s - Everything, it’s their fault. And they need to see that,” Nico said, going slightly off topic. She stopped, and tried to stifle a laugh as a tear rolled down Tilly’s porcelain cheek.

“It’s a fucking tree. If you’re so handy-dandy with that power, couldn’t you just make millions of them?” Nico asked, putting the jar back in her bag. “And I do know what it’s like to watch something die, everyone around here does. Don’t make yourself seem so god damn tortured.” She paused for a moment.“It’s a filthy world we live in, and frankly, if you don’t know that by now, you must be fucking blind.” Tilly lost it; the girl was so rude. ”I can only control and manipulate things that are already there. I can’t plant billions of them. You would’ve known if you were listening.”Tilly snapped at her. “Could you have saved that person without ending up dying yourself? No. You wouldn’t even risk your life for someone else anyways.”

Tilly wiped the tear off her cheek. “You think I don’t know what a fucking mess we live in?” Tilly raised an eyebrow. “Do you honestly think turning everyone into fucking mutants is going to help? The world will be a bigger of a mess than it is now. Corruption everywhere. More people dying, rather than fixing the fucking problem. Everyone would be at each other’s throats.” Nico looked at her with a hard look in her eyes to continue speaking. “You can’t just keep acting like everything’s going to be alright. Look at where we live. Look at what we are. It’s all their fault. The humans, don’t you get it? It’s - Everything, it’s their fault. And they need to see that.” Another tear rolled down Tilly’s eye, and she saw Nico trying to stifle a laugh. Tilly was ready to punch her in the face.

Fall Out Boy - I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me

“Well, a Justie. Isn’t that precious. I can control and generate fire,” Nico said, clasping her hands to together. “So, are you here to save me or something? Are you upset I ruined that tree? It was going to die, anyways. It never rains around here.” She said.

Nico couldn’t help but wonder what Tilly’s next move would be. Surely, this girl wasn’t as much as of a pushover as she seemed to be. Nico thought about how vicious she could be towards this girl, who she already didn’t like. She didn’t like it when people she didn’t even know tried to make her ‘come to the other side’. And as she thought about it, she knew exactly what she’d do if this girl tried to tell her that her ‘Views are wrong, and humans aren’t so bad’. Because they were. And if they weren’t, why did they experiment on innocent people? Why should they be found so great, when they’re really the most rotten people around?

“How does it feel to see something that you could’ve helped die?” She asked, toying with the jar of ashes.

“Well, a Justie. Isn’t that precious. I can control and generate power.” Nico clasped her hands together. “So are you going to save me or something? Are you upset I ruined that tree? It was going to die, anyways. It never rains around here.” Tilly could hear the bitterness and sarcastic tone in her voice. She couldn’t help but notice how rude the girl was, how broken she was. Tilly did her best to keep calm; she hardly ever got mad, but this girl was irritating her to no extent. “I’m not going to try and convince you to join the other side. I just wanted to tell you… I just wanted to tell you it doesn’t have to be like this. That’s all.” Tilly said with her eyes closed. She opened her eyes again and looked at Nico.

Nico was analyzing her again with those fiery eyes of hers. She could tell Nico didn’t like her, she wasn’t too fond of Nico though. She knew that Nico thought she was a pushover; everyone did. She stared back with determined eyes; she wasn’t going to let some irritating girl tell her what to do. Nico looked away, and Tilly felt a slight feeling of triumph balloon in her. She won. A stupid thing to win, yes, but she won. She watched as Nico pulled the jar of ashes out of her bag and Tilly looked away. She couldn’t stand looking at something she could’ve saved if she wasn’t such a coward.

“How does it feel to watch something you could’ve helped die?” Nico asked while playing with the jar, watching the ashes roll around. Tears suddenly sprang to Tilly’s eyes. “Terrible, okay? You don’t know what it’s like watching something you could’ve saved die. Could you please put it away?” she said as a tear rolled down her eye.

Nico looked up when she heard a girl’s voice. She picked up her head, and she laughed. “Well, thanks, Tilly. I don’t need your life story,” she said, standing up. “I’m Nico. I’m a Powerslider…and no, I’m not waiting for anyone. There’s nothing to wait for, anyways,” she continued, taking her hair down. She wrapped the red hair tie around her wrist, giving the girl a tiny smile.

She studied the girl’s face, and instantly felt like she was staring at a barbie doll. How could anyone let themselves look like this? This girl -  Tilly -  was obviously wearing a load of makeup. Nico could tell from her kind face and childish babbling that she wasn’t a Powerslider. “So…Tilly, what do you do? And don’t look so hurt,” she said, referring to the tree. “It’s only a dead, meaningless plant,” Nico said, a little bit of bite at the end of her sentence. She crossed her arms, and waited for a response.

The girl laughed and responded, “Well, thanks, Tilly. I don’t need your life story.” Tilly felt a little at ease when she heard her laugh and laughed along with her. The girl stood up and introduced herself. “I’m Nico. I’m a Powerslider… and no, I’m not waiting for anyone. There’s nothing to wait for.” Nico said as she took her hair down and gave her a tiny smile. “But there’s lots of things to wait for. You can wait for when the world will get better. The world won’t be so bad anymore.” Tilly spoke in her quiet, child-like voice.

Tilly watched as the girl studied her. She felt like the girl didn’t like her much and they stood for a few moments in a stony, awkward silence. Tilly glanced at the spot where the tree had been and felt sad. She couldn’t fix it now; the tree was just a small pile of ashes lying in a girl’s messenger bag. Apparently, she wasn’t very good at hiding her emotions because suddenly Nico spoke up. “So… Tilly, what do you do? And don’t look so hurt. It’s only a dead, meaningless plant.” Tilly noticed how sharp her voice was at the end, and she couldn’t help but flinch. Nico crossed her arms as she struggled to find the words to say. “I can control, animate, and manipulate plant life. I’m a Justie…” she mumbled, her voice barely above a whisper.

Nico pulled her long sandy brown hair into a tight ponytail, before stepping outside the head quarters. She couldn’t remember the last time she had gone outside and didn’t feel depressed. But, this day was different. It didn’t smell of carcases as much as it usually did. Nico walked along the beat up street, cracks on the sidewalk popping up as she continued on her way.

She wished things could go back to the way they were. But they never would. As her messenger bag slammed along her hip, she noticed a bare tree. No leaves, with slender branches and almost no color. She felt bad for the little tree for a moment. Then she studied it more, and noticed it being this way wasn’t helping anyone. It wasn’t serving any purpose.

She lit her finger tips, watching the flames dance out like gusts of wind. She touched the branch, and watched it ignite. She couldn’t help but smile. Fire had always made her happy. It was such a simple, yet dangerous thing. It could destroy so many lives, and it could happen in just seconds. The thought that one simple thing could do that comforted Nico. There was always something that could help her escape, and that was her fire.

The tree slowly formed into a pile of gray ashes. Nico took a small jar out of her messenger bag, and scooped the ashes inside the jar. She felt they’d smell nice, and be a good addition to her collection.

She sat down on the concrete, just waiting for something to happen.

Tilly sighed, bored of feeling like a prisoner. Tilly decided to quietly sneak out before stepping out onto the sidewalk filled with moss. She gently smiled, before touching the moss which suddenly disappeared. Tilly just wanted to make the world look like how it was supposed to. She just wanted everything to be normal again. Slowly, Tilly began to walk across the moss-covered sidewalk, touching the moss and making it disappear again. It made her happy for some reason. As soon as Tilly was done, she looked around, proud of her work.

Tilly decided to walk around the area near the headquarters. making flowers blossom with every step of the way. As she walked around, she noticed a small, beaten-down path on the side of the road. Being the curious person she was, Tilly decided to cautiously walk onto the path, in case any members of The Cult were near. As she stepped closer, she noticed a tall girl with long, golden hair studying a tree with no leaves and slender branches. Tilly instantly hid behind a wall and watched her. Tilly noticed a look of sadness of the girl’s face for a moment, but it suddenly disappeared, and watched as the girl lit her fingertips and touch the branches, causing it to be lit on fire. Tilly gasped, and instantly slapped her hand on her mouth, hoping that she hadn’t heard. Who was this girl? Was she a rouge? A Powerslider? Tilly turned back around to watch her again.

She observed as the girl slowly smiled a manic smile while she watched the tree burn, scaring Tilly. Why would you smile while burning a tree down?, Tilly thought. When the tree finally formed into a pile of small gray ashes, the stranger took out a glass jar out of her bag and scoop the ashes into the jar. Then, the girl decided to sit down on the concrete with a bored expression on her face, like she was waiting for something. Tilly wasn’t scared of her anymore; she realized that maybe it just made her happy to use her powers.

Tilly silently and slowly stepped out of the shadows. She came close to the girl and nervously stuttered out, “Hello, I’m Tilly Loveless. I’m a mutant too. Are you a neutralist? Are you waiting for someone? I can help you.” She began to babble. Tilly was never one to talk to strangers.
